The fine print, kept in plain language.

How Oneiratory works, what happens to what you write, and the permissions that let this become useful to research. Written to be read, not endured. Oneiratory is operated from Australia, and these terms are governed by Australian law.

In short
  • Oneiratory proves when a dream was written, not that dreams predict anything.
  • You must be at least 16 to use it.
  • Your Vault and your sealed dreams are private and end-to-end encrypted. The Registry and Commons are public and anonymous.
  • You keep ownership of your dreams. Posting publicly lets us display them; anonymised public dreams may be used in research, private ones never, unless you opt in.
  • Donations are voluntary and non-refundable.
  • Nothing here removes the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
01 · Agreement & who can use itthe basics

Agreeing to these terms

By using Oneiratory you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Oneiratory is operated from Australia by its founder. Where these terms say we, us, or Oneiratory, they mean the operator of this site.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Oneiratory. Some of what is shared here, including dreams involving substances and accounts of trauma, is meant for a mature audience. If you are under 16, please do not create an account or post.

02 · What Oneiratory isan instrument, not an oracle

An instrument, not an oracle

Oneiratory lets you record a dream and seal it, which fixes its exact wording to a point in time and proves the text has not changed since. That is the entire technical claim. A seal proves anteriority, that words existed before an event, and nothing more.

Oneiratory takes no position on whether dreams can foresee the future. Outcomes shown in the Registry reflect user submissions and community judgement, not scientific proof of precognition. Nothing on this site is a prediction, a diagnosis, or advice. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified professional or a local support service.

03 · Your content, privacy & datawhat happens to what you write

What happens to what you write, and the data we hold

  • The Vault, and your sealed dreams, are private. Both the Vault and the Seal flow are end-to-end encrypted in your browser with a key derived from your passphrase, so the server stores only ciphertext and cannot read a private entry or a sealed dream until you choose to reveal it. Forget the passphrase and that content is unrecoverable, by design, not even by us.
  • The Registry and Commons are public and anonymous by default. Treat anything you post there as visible to everyone. Do not include names, addresses, or details you would not share openly.
  • You own your dreams. By posting to a public space you grant Oneiratory a non-exclusive licence to store, display, and distribute that content within the Service, and for the research uses described in section 05. You keep ownership; this licence exists only so the Service can function.
The personal information we hold

To sign you in we store your email address and a session token. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. To keep the boards usable we apply rate limiting, and we deliberately do not store raw IP addresses. Sealed dreams and Vault entries are held only as ciphertext, as above. Your email address is shared with our email provider for the sole purpose of sending your sign-in link (see section 09).

Your privacy rights

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. You may ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or to close your account and delete its data, by writing to contact@oneiratory.com. Some material that has already been published in an anonymised, public, or third-party context may not be able to be recalled (see sections 05 and 06). If you have a privacy concern we cannot resolve, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

04 · Conductanonymous, not lawless

The Commons is anonymous, not lawless

Post in good faith. Do not submit content that is illegal, that harasses or targets others, that incites hatred or violence, or that exposes another person's private information. Impersonation and spam are not welcome. Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, or probe the security of the Service, or use it to harm anyone.

Unlawful content is strictly forbidden. In particular, any child sexual abuse material will be removed and may be reported to law enforcement and the relevant authorities. Image attachments are re-encoded to strip metadata, scanned, and held for a moderator's approval before they appear. We may remove posts or threads, and restrict access, to keep the Commons usable and safe.

05 · Researchscholarly use

Research & scholarly use

A registry of timestamped dreams is genuinely useful to the study of dreaming, memory, and prediction. To make that possible:

By submitting a dream to the public Registry or the Commons, you grant permission for that content, in anonymised form, to be used for academic and scientific research, and to be quoted or cited in scholarly journals, books, and conference publications.

This permission covers only anonymised, publicly submitted material. Your private Vault entries are never included in research without your explicit, separate opt-in.

Wherever practical, researchers are given aggregated data or short excerpts rather than whole entries, and identifying details are stripped before any dataset leaves Oneiratory. You may request removal of your public submissions at any time via contact@oneiratory.com. Please note that material already published in a third-party scholarly work cannot be retracted by us after the fact.

06 · Copyright & takedownownership

© 2026 Oneiratory. The Oneiratory name, the site's design, and its code are the property of their creator and may not be copied or reused without permission.

Dream content you submit remains yours. The licences granted in sections 03 and 05 exist only so the Service can function and so the research permission can be honoured. They do not transfer ownership away from you.

If you believe something posted here infringes your copyright or another right, or is otherwise unlawful, tell us at contact@oneiratory.com with enough detail to find it (a link or post number) and why. We will review it and remove content where appropriate.

07 · Donationsvoluntary, not a purchase

Donations

Donations are voluntary. They help cover hosting, a domain, and moderation, and keep Oneiratory free of advertising. A donation is a gift: it is not a purchase, it does not buy any feature, service, or membership, and everything on Oneiratory works the same whether you give or not.

Payments are handled by third-party providers (currently Stripe, PayPal, and Ko-fi) under their own terms; we never see or store your card details. Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a payment was made in error, contact us and we will do what we reasonably can.

08 · Suspension & removalkeeping it safe

Suspension and removal

We may remove content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these terms or the law, or that put other people or the Service at risk. Because much of Oneiratory is anonymous, we cannot always contact you first. Where an account is closed, sealed dreams that were already anchored keep their timestamp proof, but access through the Service may end.

You can stop using Oneiratory at any time and ask us to delete your account, as described in section 03.

09 · Services we rely onthe moving parts

Services we rely on

Oneiratory is small and leans on a few outside services to run: a hosting provider for the site and its database; an email provider that receives your email address only to send your sign-in link; payment providers for donations (section 07); and public timestamp authorities (an RFC-3161 authority and the OpenTimestamps Bitcoin calendars) that receive only the one-way fingerprint of a sealed dream, never its text. Each of these has its own terms and privacy practices, and using Oneiratory means your data may be handled by them for these purposes.

10 · Disclaimers & liabilityas is, and your consumer rights

As is, and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Oneiratory is provided on an as is and as available basis. It may change, be unavailable at times, or on rare occasions lose data. Nothing on this site is medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice.

Australian Consumer Law. Our services may come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you have under that law or any other law where doing so would be unlawful. Except for those rights that cannot be excluded, and to the fullest extent the law allows, our liability to you for any loss or harm arising from your use of Oneiratory is limited (where we are permitted to limit it), at our option, to re-supplying the affected service or paying the reasonable cost of doing so, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

11 · Governing lawwhere this is decided

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria. If a dispute arises, we would far rather resolve it directly, so please contact us first and give us a fair chance to put things right.

12 · Changesupdates to these terms

Updates to these terms

These terms may be revised as Oneiratory grows. The current version always lives on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will make a reasonable effort to flag it. Continuing to use Oneiratory after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13 · Generalthe boilerplate

General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours if Oneiratory changes hands, on terms no less favourable to you. These terms, together with any notices on the site, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
